Level 10 in The Quest, do I use that character in Asteroids?

I read that level 4 is needed for the asteroids expansion, have I gone too far in The Quest to use my current character?

Those are only recommended starting levels. You should be fine. If you don't want to hit too hard in the beginning, use your lower powered weapons.
