Question-What does Curse do?

I have a spell called curse which is a mind magic spell. Does anyone know what it does? Its not very clear as to how helpful it would be for a character. The only thing that would make sense would be that it makes that character deal less damage in physical combat.

Be more than glad if anyone can solve this. Thanks.

Well, supposedly it lessens character stats like intelligence, at least that's the ontl effect I've noticed so far because it lowers magic resistance, it's not a bad spell, not a particularly useful one either though

Thanks for that info. Im hoping that maybe possibly Sylon or someone else might know if it lowers all stats or at least the physical ones. The reason being is that I want to know if using melee with curse might be viable or useful. It would be cool for an assassin type character ya know?

Edit-Just read the manual and I think you are referring to mage curse which works for intelligence. So that solves that. So hopefully Sylon or someone else know the other.

Thanks Sylon! Very helpful. I dont want to sound annoying but I had another question. Its about enchanting weapons.

When it comes to enchanting, would a drain attribute like (dexterity or endurance) stat be more useful to finish enemies than an elemental damage on the weapon? I figured if it lasts 5-10 turns, it might prove that the enemy has less overall health and or defense ability if less dexterity and can be clipped.

Sorry but I can't help you with the exact details because I was not the one who programmed these rules. (That guy left the group years ago.) So I think you should try it out (save a game before enchanting) or let's wait until a more experienced player will answer your question.

I think that If it does what it says, it will work just fine. You supposedly gain and or lose ac from loss or increase of dexterity. So naturally taking it away when you strike the enemy will allow more damage to be done.

Yes, I think that too - at least that would be the logical way. : )

I THINK Curse might work better with magic casting enemies. Cursing a high(er?) level creature can do two things. It can lessen how much damage it can do because any spells it casts should be at a lower power due to lower Intelligence. This might or might not be enough for you to survive long enough to win the fight. Depends on how high a level they are and you are. The other thing it does is make their dexterity lower so their attacks have a greater chance of missing you. So if they keep hitting you and you keep having to take a potion each time all they have to do is miss once or not hit you as hard once and you can get a lick in before they recover. Hopefully you can defeat them before you run out of health or mana potions. As for enchanting, I haven't tried enchanting for drain dexterity, only drain health and mana. I know that if you drain health and mana from them it feeds into you. Great way to go toe to toe with something stronger than you and survive without using up all your potions. Would draining dexterity from them feed it into you? That would lessen the effects of their attacks and enhance the effects of yours if that's true. Interesting experiment that I'm going to have to try. Try carrying a variety of enchanted items. Save right before battle and try different combinations. Let us know if I'm right.

Any spell that reduces your enemy's stats is good. That could bring someone who would normally be too strong for you to defeat down to where you can manage it. Curse is one. There are diseases you can enchant into a weapon that does that and more. Plus the enemy usually doesn't have a ready responce to a disease like some do for curse. There are several choices. As for enchanting, saving is a good idea. Then enchant certain spells and try it on a hard enemy. Mix and match. Then keep notes on each try and post it here. I really like drain health and mana on weapons. It saves on potions in battle plus it reduces your enemy faster than just plain damage. It would be interesting to see the results of your experiment.
