Help creating a Battlemage

Hi there
I've recently bought The Quest Gold and so far I'm liking the game a lot. However I think I'll start over with a new character (because of bad skill choices) and would like a Little feedback.

I would like to try a battlemage. Preferably a living one, but if an undead is much better please let me know. I need som help with skill choice (primary), which stats to increase and weapon choice. It would also be nice with som tips and tricks on strategy (enchanting stuff, alchemy and so forth).

I hope you can help me on this one :)

Well with creating any mage, you'll need to know that attack magic loses all usefulness in later expansions. Heavy armour and weapons work well, and don't distract any usefulness of magic. Light armour does, however, typically have a higher enchant ability.

Thanks for the input - good points to remember :)

I've thought about primary skills and so far I've decided on: Heavy armour, Env. magic and Alchemy. However I'm doubtfull about these:

Light vs. Heavy weapon (also keeping in mind which stats to raise: Str, Dex etc.)
Block vs. Protection magic
Mercantile vs. Persuade vs. Repair
Or maybe a different combination.

Anyone with any thoughts on this?

Would that even be a "battlemage" build? I realize that ATK Magic becomes useless later, but isn't shooting fireballs, etc a staple part of battlemagery?

Light weapon, block, and persuade from the 3 choices you listed would be the safest choices also.

Thanks for your answer - and your probably right about the noneexisting "Battlemage-build". I was just concerned about all those posts thate states that Att. Magic aren't worth it :)

Maybe I could swap either Persuade or Block for Att. Magic - but I'm not sure which one. Any ideas?

I would get rid of persuade as blocking is more necessary to your survival.
