Travel between expansions

I am playing the quest HD and will be getting Ice and Fire Hd soon. I know I can use my quest character to travel to Ice and fire so that I don't have to start from scratch. As that character then grows better in Ice and Fire can I not then travel back and use that character in the quest?

You can travel back, no problem.

If you have set Markers in the original Quest HD they will work perfectly for easy travel back and forth between both places.

I have learnt the recall spell just not the mark one. In Ice and Fire can you just return to the harbour you arrive in and return that way?

Yes if you go back to the Port of Eldfell and speak to Captain Haddor, select Travel and pay 200 gold he will take you back to Freymore.
