I just found a little room off the South Western portion of the teleport room in the other dimension, and the sign there said to "unlock the skeletons near the trees". There are only two trees there, and I tried casting strong unlock on everything even vaguely skeleton-ish nearby, but nothing happened. Did it just mean let the skeleton monsters out from behind the gate?

I too was superstitious about this sign, as I LOVE finding hidden secrets in the game (it makes me feel accomplished xD ), however imnearly 100% sure that it just means to let out the skeletons and head through the corridor to the next room to proceed. After 3 straight years of playing The Quest, I still wish that part had a secret :,)

This is REALLY a secret. : ) The super mega big secret of the game.
The message says something different, here it is correctly:
"Unlock the bones among trees"
Try to find trees and bones outside of this place - go back through the teleporter to the little island and search. : )

NO FREAKING WAY! Wow... I am totally floored. That was the most awesome game secret EVER! And I found it without googling it, too!

Hey... Wouldn't it make sense for certain badass game developers to put additional secrets in their official sequel?

If only they would, but redshift made it clear no more updates.... Unless there already is a secrect....

I kinda feel like they did... Now I have to go back and scour the globe yet again.

We've always put secrets in our previous games too, so yes, if we'll make a new role playing game, we'll put badass secrets in that too. : ) But The Quest will get no more update, just bugfixes. The last 'serious' update was version 2.3 where I made new maps, monsters, items, quests etc. for free. (For example, the Unmapped Island, the Pyramid of Ghula or the Sunken Monastery were not in the original game.)

Oh, that might be why I just found the unmapped island. I started playing before the update. I was mostly wondering if you guys hid something in ice and fire for us to find. I got your hammer, but that wasn't a "secret", per say.

The secret is actually what you DO with the hammer. Have you met Stewe yet?

A rough idea of where he is, is north of the Abbey, in the hills. There is a hole where one may climb down via rope and battle some cyclops, barbarians and such. I won't give you exact details, A's this would pretty much ruin the secret being a "secret" and you would get a fraction of the enjoyment you normally would!

Oh! He lives in that cave system? I was there FOREVER ago!

Just remember: after using the hammer in the cave, DO NOT forget to talk with him. That is the only way to get your prize!

I might have found the bones.. They are at the very southern tip of the wasteland/ Island... I need to buy the UnlockSpell to try it out though

It's in the area called circle of trees on the island.

Lol. Well, I eventually found Stewe and the right crack in the wall, after trying literally EVERY SINGLE OTHER ONE in the WHOLE CAVE! I feel stupid, lol.
