When I do a search for wild wands I see World of Warcraft all over the place. I never played World of Warcraft so that's probably why I don't know what a wild wand does. Please elaborate. Thank you.

Wand of wild detect mind
Wand of wild drain Mana
Wand of wild paralyze

What does the word wild mean in this context? How would it be different than simply a wand of paralyze?

I think it just means it casts that spell at a very high level. You can look at the information for wands and scrolls to see the spell effect, and what level at which it casts a spell.

Well that's the thing. Those Wild wands don't list a level. My best guess is that a wild wand gives you a random result. Iow, sometimes you'll get a very powerful blast and sometimes you'll get a very lame affect. That's the only reason I can think of why they would call it wild in the first place

I'm just trying to get a confirmation

I went to a magic shop in Eldfell, and found a wild wand that said it cast at skill level 90.

You should check the wand levels on your inventory or, even better, on your Spell Register list
Yes, the fourth button, near the Quest List, it is very useful as you can see whole effect of spells or wands :o
I've also recommend to dedicate some time to read the manual ;-)
