Character Gender Purpose

Hello all! I got to thinking and became curious, does your choice of gender during character creation have any influence on the games main story and/or dialog?

I'm currently playing a female and have noticed some whistling (which I assume to be cat calling) as I walk past male NPC's. Is this part of the gender choice dialog or just a coincidence?

Other than what I mentioned above I haven't noticed any other references.

Thanks in advance for any and all answers!

Hey, welcome to the forums! 8-)

As far as I know, your character's gender affects some dialogs, but they don't have any infuence on the gameplay, at least for the base game.
I mean, having a female character won't stop you from visiting the Vastares brothel... :?

You get a different dialog from the Amazoness cave near the river Brendan. I’m sure there are other instances where it’s different, but I can’t think of any others right now.

If you are a woman you get Marosola’s Amulet at the end of her first quest. If you are a male you receive the Child’s Necklece. I don’t think they have any stats but I could be wrong.

Iim playing a female because I think all the male portraits suck. But I haven't noticed anything different. The ladies of the night still talk to me like I'm a male for instance

In some of our Zarista expansions, you get different dialogues sometimes if you are a female.
