Bell Tower

Hi all,
Just asking what I'm fairly sure some of you have encountered before... I can't finish the bell tower with the bats, where you have to ring the bell. I've killed all the bats I could find, and rung the bell, yet the man still tells me to keep bat-slaying...
Do you have any ideas? They would be much appreciated.

When you go near the bell, a message is displayed. Ignore that message. Instead tap on the rope. A different message should pop up. Done.
