[steam] game don't start with last patch

since the last update on steam i cant launch the game anymore.
it says "The Quest is launching", the whole steam window freezes and after 5 minutes steam crashes.
When restarting Steam, it says The Quest is still running.
after that there are 3 Processes of TheQuest.exe which can't be killed.
Tried even with taskkill /f /t, no success.
only helps rebooting to get rid of 'em.
any ideas on howto get it back running?
