Black screen / distorted logo on Android

I downloaded the game last night and even after clearing cache and reinstalling it loads to either the logo with no text, sometimes blurry text, or a black screen. At one point it prompted to log into Google Play Games. But then it reverted to the previous behavior?
Is there anything I can try?

It sounds like graphics driver problems, unfortunately. The only "strange" thing is that it's not consistent. It should always look the same.
The game should prompt you to log into Google Play Games once after install. If you decline it'll not prompt you again (you can log in/out any time using the button on the main menu screen).
It seems that Android 5.1 is the latest for your phone. You could try updating all apps (especially Google Play related). But if the game remains unplayable, it seems asking for a refund from Google might be in order, sorry. If you are late with Google, please write to us (with the order number) and we can issue a refund.
