Deleting expansions causes saves to not be loadable? Is there a way around it? There are bugs caused by too many expansions being active!

The game marks all enabled expansions when a save is created, yes. There is no way around it, sorry.

What kind of "bugs" are we talking about? Just having expansions installed is not likely to cause any (as their content is not loaded unless needed).

In the classic version, it sometimes didn't check for globals if too many expansions were enabled (and played through). It sometimes caused players to be stuck with a bug that wasn't there originally.
