Editor questions

Postby Matías » Tue Sep 25, 2012 7:09 pm

I have just begun to use the editor but I have a few questions on how to use it. Hopefully someone can help me....

How can I get more enemy characters? I've seen other expansions such as HOL or CCS and they seem to have enemies that aren't available in the editor. How would I be able to get more enemies(if that's possible)

Is there a way to make custom objects (ex: custom colored walls)

On my editor on the top it says "(modified)". Somewhere else on these forums I heard someone had to restart there expansion because it was on a modified version...is this what he meant? Also how can I get rid of it(if it is modified)

I'll help you gladly with all your editor questions. ;)

Click 'World' then 'advanced' then you'll find 'Manage Monster types, Manage Item types, Manage Map object types...There you can create eveything you'd like to. You can make custom walls, wall decorations, floor....so everything you can place onto the map. Movements of monsters, FPS pictures...

(Otherwise, I'm writing it from a computer with no editor installed...so I'll write more details as I get home.) ;)

Thanks a lot. I have another question, how exactly do I make walls on top of walls or make certain areas in the ground have missing blocks(like a chasm for example)

Edit: also, when I modify the textures I get the (modify) above my window....what's that mean and is that ok?

That means you have modified your world since your last save. So if you save again, it must be gone. ;)

Ok thanks :) I don't have any other questions at the moment so thanks again for your help! How's your expansion going by the way? Is it near completion?

No, unfortunately. We're rebuilding the dungeons and recreating the NPCs currently. Because of school, we're having much less time than we had before.

Anyway, if you have other questions about the editor, write it, I'll try to answer as fast as I can. ;)

No, not really. You can play them on the PC but Elendil needs to wave his magic wand to get them to work on I devices.
You have 20 save slots use them all. Save after every quest, save before going into a dungeon, save, save save!!

It's quite easy: 'File>New', then 'Map>Create Surface Maps' , set the size of the surface and the type of the terrain. (Be careful! Later, you may not place anything into the regions at the edges, because the game will crash! So if you set 8x8, you will be able to use only 6x6 of it.)
To create dungeons: Map>New Map
That's all, good luck!

I'd like to know how to make certain walking city NPCs to stay up all night, just like those ship captains can.

I may be wrong, but I don't think the ship captains walk around

They don't. Why do they never disappear?

As far as I remember all you have to do is create an object on it. Then you can select the visibility (set it to "yes" on both options). Usual walking city NPCs have no object on them.
