So I add an item type and it goes to the base game list, not the new world list, what am I doing wrong?

Is it coded with the first four letters of your new world?

For example, say the four letter id for your world is fine.

The id for the new item should be fine_nameofnewitem.

Yes, it was coded chev_... and then added to the bres items list.

A question follows, is there a step-by-step guide to start making a world without corrupting it right away? I just put in an outline of a dungeon and now it crashes the editor every time I try to open the file. Using the old editor

You're using the old editor?

When you go to Advanced, Manage Base Item Types, you should get a screen that pops up for your world that should show All on the left hand side top and the name of your world on the right hand side top, for example "Test(test").

You click the Add button there.

You don't want to add anything to the Bres items list.

I don't know anyway that is step by step because so many things could go wrong when you're creating a new world. For example, if you add a graphic, place it in the world, delete the graphic and save, you will crash.

A lot of things can cause a crash. The best way is to save often. Test. Mail the good file to yourself or store it somewhere so you always have a good copy and go on. If you crash, you can always go back to a good copy.
