Quest Blog I&F-Post I- Gearing Up: Making Some Basic Enchanting Gear

Now we begin the first official expansion. Enjoy the journey. If you haven't read the first part, "The Quest Blog", I would recommend it.
Today I arrive on Eldfell and create an "Enchant Suit" to enchant to high levels.

Chapter 6- A New Journey
Vlad lived happily for a few weeks in his new house in Mithria, living off his substantial fortune and enjoying life. However, soon he began to long for battle and exploration again, and when a letter came from Mersant asking him to sail to the islands of Eldfell and Thule to investigate the situation, he all too happily obliged.
He went to the port of Mithria under cover of night and boarded a ship to Eldfell, as Thule was under lockdown. He was to meet with Governor Volney.

He arrived at the port at around noon and met with a man named Alber. Vlad was told to go north to the city inn and inquire about the situation. He was also told that Thule had been shut down completely, the bridge destroyed. He walked north, through some farmland, and came to the massive city. He turned east, careful not to step into the lava flows along the side of the street, and came to the inn. He knocked, and a plump man rushed to the door.
"Why you must be the agent Mersant's sent to us! Here, have a beer on the house!" They chatted for a while before the innkeeper handed Vlad a pass to the castle and some winter clothes to wear in Thule . He then told Vlad to meet with Governor Volney. He also warned Vlad not to mention the Governor's wife. Vlad went back to the city center and entered the castle.
Volney greeted him. He briefed Vlad on his two missions after calling him a "degenerate Nogur". Asshole. He had two goals:
1- Check in on Thule
2 Find the lair of the beast causing the attacks and see if it can be killed

When asked how Vlad would get to Thule, Volney told Vlad to go north, to the Field of Lava and look for a hollow tree. He also gave Vlad a key to use. Then he told Vlad to get lost. What a jerk. Vlad hoped he'd die like the Mysterious Man. Vlad left the castle and went to the smithy, having heard of how excellent the weapons of Eldfell were. He had not been deceived. They were, however, ridiculously expensive. He bought a fire belt, some dragon scale boots, and a night helm, totaling at just under 9,000 gold pieces even when he sold his old gear. He enchanted his new fire belt with +10% resist magic. He took his leather cape and quilted armor and enchanted them to increase his environmental magic, along with buying a pair of padded leggings and enchanting them to increase his environmental magic. He now had an env. magic skill of 80 with his armor equipped and could enchant to 240 storage and enchanted the night helm with +16% magic resistance, as well as his new boots. He totaled at 90% magic resistance with all of his heavy gear equipped, and stowed his enchanting equipment in his pack.
Before he went to Thule, he thought, it would be best to explore Eldfell and see the sights. So he went to a store in Eldfell and met with a merchant named Dolf. He wanted to make a deal with Vlad. If Vlad went to the sunken cemetery of the island and find 2 things- an idol of the god Balbus and a fertility plant. Vlad would be given a small fortune in return. Seeing as his net worth included a house and 71 coins, he agreed.

Quest Blog I&F-Post II- Sunken Cemetery... Undead Whores?

Newly equipped, Vlad sets out to the north of Eldfell and into the Sunken Cemetery in search of an idol of the god Balbus and a fertility plant to help a merchant named Dolf in a get-rich-quick scheme. Should be interesting. I'm sorry I haven't been able to post lately, and I have been lazy about it, I will try to do better in the future. Anyways, where we left off...

Before he left, he sold some useless potions and bought some food and water from the inn. Vlad set out from the northern gate of Eldfell, enjoying the balmy air of the plain. He came to the west, taking the road called the way of life. Today would be his first chance to face some of the wild beasts of Elsfell, and his blood was pumping. He followed the path and soon was attacked by a hideous dog-like creature. He chopped the thing down (in 6 hits!) and thought that maybe the monsters here wouldn't be too bad. Then he continued on, northbound. He came to a crossroads with a sign:
South to Eldfell
West to the cemetery
North to Northern Peak

He also killed another mutant dog before heading west. Suddenly, 2 bandits and 2 more dogs were attacking him. He cut the first dog down, then a bandit, before the other dog leapt at him. He quickly cast a restoring spell on himself before getting back in the fight. The last bandit, asshole that he was, managed to poison Vlad before he was mercilessly slaughtered. Vlad looted an empty wand and 200 coins before curing his poison. As he arrived in the cemetery he noticed something was amiss. A sign at the entrance simply read: "we arise". Okay then... Then, a demon attacked him! He slew it and decided to come back later. He now walked the perimeter of the cemetery and found the home of the undertaker, a small hut. However, another spirit was outside. Vlad put the thing to rest before knocking on the door. The undertaker was a kindly old man and gave Vlad a tour of his workshop. Afterwards, Vlad went east to the sunken cemetery and put down some more lost souls and mutant dogs, fighting east along the water.
At last he came to a deep hole in the ground and a building with a sign that read "Temple of Eldfell", in scratched letters. Vlad knocked and a priest came to the door. After some idle chat, he gave Vlad a necklace that boosted magic resistance by 30%! His magic resistance was now 100%! The man told him that the hole led to the cemetery. He marked a spot outside and jumped in. He was bruised but OK. He got up and slew all the nearby monsters. There were actually only two, ghouls of course. Vlad now began the search for the two items. After a 30 minute search, he found both items.

NOTE- You automatically pick up the items. You don't have to click on them. If you step into the space with the item, you automatically acquire it!

Seeing no other course of action, Vlad crawled through a hole in the rock to the east. He slew another ghoul before continuing warily.

Reached level 16-
+3STR/+2DEX
+2HVY.WPN,+2HVY.ARM,
+2ENV.MAG, +4BLK

He went east and found himself in a large chamber. He opened a door in the northern part of the chamber and an undead girl came to him. She was.. underdressed, to say the least. "50 gold", she asked. Vlad quickly closed the door and walked away. To the left he found a skill book of environmental magic and read it. Then he knocked on some more doors, the results always the same- he was in an UNDEAD BROTHEL! He came to the door of a woman named Auntie Rillia, and she wanted him to clear out the spirits inhabiting the mirrors of the place. He agreed, and cleaned out the two mirrors. The whore gave him a firebird feather and some leather armors (sell :) ) before... nuff said, eh? He teleported to Eldfell and went to the merchant's store. The man was very grateful and gave him 2000 gold pieces (and 2500XP). The merchant joked:
"Bet you had lots of fun in that old crypt, eh?" If only he knew. Vlad chuckled as he left. He sold all his loot and had his gear repaired.

End of I&F Post II

Level:16 XP:248243/320000 (Damn!)
Damage:55-93. AC:74
HP:188/191 MP:70/190
Gold:4106

Sorry it took so long. I've been lazy but will try to get back on track. Any comments are, as always, welcome.

I don't know, honestly. The document I had on my computer somehow corrupted for the latest post and I am now missing a nonessential quest or two. Also, I haven't had as much time on my hands lately, but I will try to get it out by Wednesday.

Quest Blog I&F Post III- The Lost Post

Vlad did a bit of exploring on Eldfell, detailed in his next diary page (yes, he kept a diary) and explored the crypt of Eldfell for Valcherim, Eldfell's blacksmith. Unfortunately, it appears that while he was fighting one of those mutant dogs on the way back, it leapt up and ripped his journal page out! The thing was lacerated, and I am sorry about this, but there won't be a post 3. I will have post 4 out shortly. Thanks for the cooperation.

Also, Vlad did reach level 17 in Post 3, and his stat changes were:
+2INT/+3END (Got to keep improving my armor skills)
+2HVY WPN/HVY ARM/ENV MAG/+4ACC

Quest Blog I&F Post IV- Lord Volney: What a Nice Guy! Walk to Thule
Monastery

As always, thanks for reading the blog. I'm so terribly sorry about the loss of post III but don't have much power to change it, so we will continue forward instead! As always, questions or comments are welcome.

Vlad wasn't just drunk. He was hammered, as in half a dozen bottles of rum and a few beers to top it off. He had also evidently been poisoned while drinking them, and was laying outside the inn door in Eldfell City. This was embarrassing. He foggily remembered drinking a lot and seeing a lot of skin. His head throbbing, he walked into the inn and bought a room. Nearly 16 hours later, he left and went to screw with his asshole of a friend, Volney, still slightly hung over. He stumbled into the castle and walked over to Volney's study. When he saw Vlad, he yelled:
"You! I need you to do something for me now! My damned wife has been unfaithful to me and has slept with the merchant, Dolf. I want you to give him this potion, see? Tell him it's some fine wine from my wife, alright. That will be the end of their relationship. Reluctantly, Vlad took the potion and walked over to Dolf's store (Dolf is the guy we did the quest for earlier, remember?) and knocked.
"Vlad, my friend, come in!", said the merchant. Vlad told him the "wine" was from the wife of Volney, and he instantly took a sip. Vlad actually felt bad for the womanizer before he left.
He gained 1000 gold pieces and lost a lot of respect for himself. He decided that it was time to head to Thule, perhaps. Before leaving Eldfell City, he went to the smithy and had his gear repaired. He also bought a mighty war flair for nearly 14000 gold and a dragon shield for 18000, selling his old shield for nearly half the amount. Damned if he wasn't almost broke. Again. Regardless of his financial situation, he enchanted his new shield with +25AC and his new flail with +16 heavy weapon, the latter with his own powers! Now he really was broke, but at least he was equipped well. He set out to the north, for the field of lava as Volney had told him to. Once there, he had to fight off a couple of hellhounds to search for the tree in peace. When he found it, however, his heart sank. A fire dragon stood next to it. Breathing deep, he charged, his magic armor absorbing several fireballs.
Much to his surprise, it fell quickly. Now, he descended into the hidden entrance within the trunk. Inside, he took a portal to a gated room. He opened the gate, and big surprise, a snow dragon awaited him! This one took a LONG time to kill and dropped only a small potion of resist paralysis.

Reached level 18!
+2INT/+3DEX
+2ENV MAG/HEV ARM/+5BLK/+1ACC

He remembered Volney's orders and closed the gate before taking the second portal to an icy tunnel, which he quickly exited. He was now in Thule. It was cold and zombie-like creatures closed in rapidly. He didn't like this one bit.

He drew his weapon and went to work, though, his sweat keeping him warm as he cut down four of them in the port quarter alone. From there he moved west after drinking a potion to cure plague.

He had found the village proper, and it was a ghost town. He cautiously walked through town, but found that some flesh eaters had seen him. He slew them as he followed the road to the other side of town, marking a spot near the center. On the way he found the ring of an innkeeper weighing down a letter. He picked them up and read the letter quickly: it described the fall of Thule. He continued west, towards the monastery, on the "way of the novice". He decided to rest after another skirmish, and pitched a tent. Unfortunately for Vlad, it rained overnight, ruining his sleep.
The next morning was miserable. He slogged through snow and slush, moving west and reaching a sign that read: "Empire of Stone". He was in a mountainous area at this point. A little farther in, he encountered his first flesh eater for the day. He cut it down. The next one he encountered was at the end of the mountain pass. Its fate was the same as that of the first. It dropped several bane daggers, which he cautiously collected. Next he encountered a flying eye and a mutant ice dog. He killed the dog while hiding behind a tree, sheltered from the eye's magic.

Next, he killed two evil shamans, who must have been protected from the flesh eater virus somehow.
Walking a little farther south brought him to Thule Monastery. The gate was locked shut but Vlad saw that the gate house was unlocked. He knocked and a man came to the door.
"My shift up? Wait, who are you?"
Vlad explained that he was a kingdom agent and the man practically cried with relief.
"Wait! You... you're the one that saved Freymore from those beasties a while back! Well, we might be saved after all. I'll give you the key to the monastery. By the way, there's been a murder. Poor brother had his neck torn out."
Vlad took the key with a thanks, and entered the abbey. Inside was a huge courtyard with makeshift homes and prayer halls around the side. The place had very few occupants. Vlad was ready to resolve this problem.

End of I&F Post IV

Again, I apologize for the delayed (and skipped) post, but I'm back! If you have any comments, don't hesitate to well... comment.
