Thurwin prompts the gem dealer in the Eldfell Outlands.

Erhard says nothing other than "Training, Who are you, What's wrong"

Erhard's Son's quest is already completed. How do I get the next "About the sickness" event to trigger? I tried another save and it didn't have it then either. Help please!

There are no other steps. Thurwin tells you to talk to the gem dealer, because he was "crazed about strange things". The gem dealer is crazed because his son become really sick and monstrous. Which was true and you've killed the son. That's it. You must keep looking around and discover the isles more for more clues about the sickness.
