Green Man?

Postby prvincent » Thu Mar 12, 2020 3:46 pm

As a fairly low-level (lvl 9) character, how do I deal with the Green Man in Thor's Hammer? Having come down with a dose of Hairy Hands in Servile's Lair, I heard the cure was obtainable from the Witch of Hissing Thicket, but whenever I go there I run into the Green Man. Even if I keep dosing myself with Resist Magic potions to stave of his lightning bolts, I seem unable to make much dent in his health. Any advice for dealing with him? He seems too high-level for my low-level character, but I thought this was a low-level module?

He's level 15. Try enchanting with AC, Cast Stone Skin and use ranged weapons.

I ended up getting a cure somewhere, and I don't even remember where. I hope i can buy them at some point, 'cause i'm going to have to return to that lair, myself, since apparently I can't finish it right now (something about a rock, and then there's apparently a level 13 barrier).

Anyway, i took him out at about your level, had a heck of a time, though. My character's a Rasvim, so I've been pushing intelligence all the way and used an enchantment + the protection spell to get 80% resistance to magic. He still ate about 40% of my health, so my trick in particular was to take advantage of his fear of water to trap him on the river so i could slide in and out only a few tiles away (so i could monitor his health) to restore my mana with mana potions. In theory, i also could've escaped and slept, too, but I didn't feel the need to go that far. The AI deem to get stuck on certain rivers in this expansion, so take advantage of it if you're weak to magic like I am. Don't forget your trees, either, as the AI almost always prefers defensive tree usage rather than trying to trap you (spellcasters and melee fighters, but spellcasters are more particular about this).

Ignore the Khajiit, avatar. Just found it using google images and thought it was so similar to the artstyle of the game that it was the closest i was going to get to a Khajiit vampire (since Rasvim aren't necromancers). Also, because the create food trick got boring, i just hex-edited a bunch of money in so i could get a better foothold.

It took me a few max mana potions, but I was able to get him down with drain-health. I had cast plague and a few others on him, too, but I honestly have no idea if they had any effect on him as he was casting some odd spells at the time. I think he might be casting some sort of magick resist, himself, but my bow can't really hurt him and I wasn't about to just go in Leeroy Jenkins style with my sword when i'd likely only get 1 stab in before he killed me.
