Thieves Guild

Hey I'm new, and I have got at far as the second city ( the one that starts with a V, the name slips my mind ) and I am having trouble finding out how to attract the thieves guild for the very first quest on main mission. Any help?

You actually don't have to find them right now (and can't), that comes later in the game.

I found this guy that told me to look for phyrus or something like that, and that he is connected to the thieves guild, but I can't find him either. I just now made it to the city of mithra

Oh, hadn't realized you'd been that far. To find the strange man, you'll actually have to backtrack from mithria to Phryn. If I'm not mistaken, he's on the west side of Phryn, in the really big building, with water surrounding it. He'll give the quests that lead to finding the thieves guild.
